Golden Milk aka The Magical Mylk

Golden Milk aka The Magical Mylk

My quick and easy version

Hey babes,

It's been a minute and I'm sorry, but I'm back and I have a delicious and magical treat for you called Golden Milk. This drink has been going around blogs and Instagram for awhile. The first time I heard of golden milk was over a year ago. Not only did it sound delicious the benefits seemed to good to be true. A beverage that aids in digestion, fights cancer and detoxifies your body among many other wonderful benefits seriously intrigued me. especially when it says it fights against alzheimer's disease. Since that runs in my family and theirs no known cure so if drinking this golden drink can help I'm prevent it I'm done to give it a try!

Let's get to the basics, golden milk can be made by mixing various spices together, but it's quite tricky if you don't know exactly what to use. For instance, adding black pepper to the spices will make the turmeric 1000% more absorbent. If you're not sure what to put into your golden milk mixture then I recommend giving a pre mixed package a try. The only one I've tried is Gaia Herb and all the ingredients are clean theirs nothing in it that's a chemical or preservative. I picked mine up over the weekend at Whole Foods it was on sale for $13.99 and when I went back today it was completely sold out! I recommend checking your local Whole Foods and if you can't find it there, you can find it here

How to make it, well if your going to go the from scratch route you'll have to find out exactly what to put inside of your milk just putting turmeric and spices isn't going to give you all of the benefits. Their are awesome from scratch recipes out their just make sure you're following a correct one. If you're going to use the Gaia herb then warm up a a plant based milk. I prefer coconut milk over almond milk (since almonds are not the best for you, but that's a completely different post).

Once your milk is simmering add in a teaspoon of your golden milk mixture stir it until it's completely combined then pour it into your mug and enjoy! It's that simple.

I recommend having this drink once a week. If your taking it for inflamed muscles or for a pre existing condition, try sipping on this twice a week. Leave me a ๐Ÿ’› emoji on my golden milk Instagram photo so I know you were here!

Just a few of the awesome benefits:
  • Better digestion
  • Happier muscles
  • A shield against colds and flu
  • Weight-loss support
  • A boost in good cholesterol
  • Detoxifies your body
  • Boots immunity
  • Makes skin GLOW
  • Helps with sleep
  • Reduces cramping-buh bye aunt flow
  • Protect against liver damage
  • Suppress symptoms associated with type 2 diabetes
  • Helps fight depression

Homemade Raspberry Chia Seed Jam

Raspberry Chia Seed Jam, Made under 5mins!

Hello loves. I have a special treat for you this week, an extra post! I shared a photo of my raspberry  chia seed jam on my Instagram page and the reach out for the recipe was so high that I knew I couldn't leave you guys hanging. I'm literally obsessed with this stuff it's so easy to make and I put it on everything breakfast or snack related from toast to pancakes. It's a healthy swap for jelly and syrup. Now, I can't take all the credit for this jam. I got the idea from a friend. One day I brought  raspberries with me in a plastic bag to snack on and when I pulled them out they were all smashed up. My friend said "oh look you made jam"! At the time I was starving and didn't find it so funny, but since I hate to throw away food I decided that I would bring them home and find a use for them which leads me here to this yummy post!

Ingredients: All you need is
raspberries (I prefer to use organic),
chia seeds

Tools you'll need:
bowl
fork

Step one:
wash your raspberries and add them to your bowl. Then sprinkle half a table spoon of chia seeds on top then mash them up!

Step two:
Add your homemade raspberry chia seed jam to your toast or pancakes. I opted for a sprouted bread with goat cheese and layered my jam on top ๐Ÿ˜‹

Step 3: Enjoy!
This is by far my favorite breakfast. It's yummy and healthy! I also like to sprinkle a few more chia seeds on top, but that's really it. Just 3 (really 2) easy steps to make delicious homemade chia seed jam! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. Happy Thursday everyone ๐Ÿ˜˜

Detox•Mocktails

Hey loves! I know that the holiday festivities are beginning this weekend, but I'm already thinking about my New Years resolution. I'm saying I do in 2017 and I want to feel my absolute best. That's why I've been mixing up healthy mocktails to put me on the right track for 2017.

The first mocktail I mixed up was a pink detox tea. All you need is:
๐Ÿ’–Sparkling Water (I get mine at Trader Joe's)
๐Ÿ’–Fresh Lime
๐Ÿ’–Cold Pressed Watermelon Juice
๐Ÿ’–Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother (Braggs is the best).
You can take any cup I like to use a big mason jar  and fill it half way with sparkling water. Then I fill up the other half with the watermelon juice. I squeeze in the fresh lime and add 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. ACV has so many amazing benefits you can read all about them here http://bit.ly/2dM21LD
The next mocktail is exactly the same, only I used a pineapple cold pressed juice instead. Now it's important that the juices are cold pressed because it's holding in all the nutrients/enzymes that you want from drinking a juice. If you don't drink cold pressed juices your basically drinking flavored water. Your body is not absorbing any nutrients/enzymes because they don't last long after a juice is made. Some people go as far as saying that if you don't make a juice out of a cold pressed juicer then it's not keeping its nutrients/enzymes at all. This is because centrifugal juicers are using a system that heats up the juice and that takes out all the nutrients/enzymes almost immediately. You can read more about it here http://huff.to/1b7ez7Y
The last mocktail that I whipped up was super easy because all I had to do was headed over to Starbucks. I to go ordered a venti shaken tea with lemonade and added a teaspoon of activated charcoal to it. Activated charcoal is s good for your body and draws out all toxins and impurities. I should mention that you shouldn't drink an activated charcoal drink daily it's not recommended. I like to have one 2 or 3 times a week. The activated charcoal that I use can be found here http://amzn.to/2i0m2RQ

I hope you guys enjoy these yummy mocktails  and leave me a comment on my instgram page @fashionstylefoodie to let me know which one you're going to try in the new year!
