Get your Fo-cation on!

Hello my loves, how's your winter treating you? I know I for one wish I could jet out to the Bahamas for a few days to escape this winter weather. The worst part is everyone I know is jetting off to Hawaii or Punta Cana even Bora Bora to holiday while I'm stuck in NY freezing my you know what off.

Are you in the same boat? If you answered YES! Then I have the perfect remedy for you and I call it a fo-cation.   Here are a few things you can use to pamper yourself to give you that, "I went on vacation glow".

πŸ’–Hydrate your under eyes. This is a quick and easy way to make you look and feel more awake! Apply any eye patch, my favorite are gel eye patches, and leave them on the the recommended time.
πŸ’–Pamper your paws! Fist exfoliate them, I really enjoy sea salt by lush cosmetics. Once you've done that use a hand mask to soften your winter skin. The one I'm loving late like is golden handshake by lush. Follow the directions on the packaging and watch the texture of your skin transform.
πŸ’–Next up add some color to your life! I know I'm NY winter is all about dark nails, but we're on a fo-cation remember? Give your nails a bright color like these pretty shimmering shade of blue from Essie.
πŸ’–Now get some rest! What does everyone do on vacation? They relax, so close the blinds or put on an eye mask and get some shut eye even if it's for 15 mins. As long as you wake up naturally I promise you'll feel more energized and ready to take on anything.
πŸ’–Once you wake up lather your dry winter skin with an illuminating lotion. My favorite is the Iuminizing body lotion by Jouer Cosmetics. It will brighten up your skin and give you that sun kissed glow!

Follow these steps to an instant fo-cation. I mean they always say fake it till you make it right? So go on a mini fo-cations once a month or once a week. Make people wonder why you're always wearing that vacation glow!

DIY Gold Dipped Centerpieces

Hello my loves,

If your here you prob found me on Instagram @fashionstylefoodie, be sure to follow my blog so you don't miss any fun DIY and beauty/fashion posts coming up!

Okay so I'm moving forward with the DIY train with another project from my engagement party. This project was so simple and will save you a ton of money on your centerpiece. This is how I created my dipped in gold DIY centerpieces!

I love the look of a floral arrangement on tables for a party, I mean who doesn't,but they can get pricey. Because of this factor I opted to make my own and you can too if you follow these easy steps.

First figure out how many tables your going to have and if you want any extra arrangements to decorate the room I needed 16 arrangements all together so I went on www.wholesaleglassvasesint.com and ordered the 12 pack of the cylinder cases -Size: Open-3", Height-12". As well as 4 individuals. Once my vases came in I headed over to Lowes and picked up metallic gold spray paint to give the cases that dipped in gold look as well as painting tape.

Once you have all of your supplies make sure you clean your vases before your start and that they're completely dry. Tape off the bottom of your vases with the painters tape. You want to make sure your pretty precise with the tape and wrap it tightly around the vase. This way you will not leave room for the paint to drip through or come out uneven. You can tape off the vases at any length I chose to do 3/4 from the base of the vase.

After you tape all of your vases bring them out side along with your spray paint. Find an open spot and lightly coat each vase being sure not to leave any spots unsprayed. You can spray the bottom of the vase if you'd like, I choose to do so. If you do spray the bottom of the vase let the vase dry upside down on a flat surface. If not your can let the vase dry right side up on a flat surface.

Once the vases are completely dry then you can gently peel off the tape from the vase. If your paint comes up a bit don't panic you can a take some of the paint color with a small paint brush and make little touch-ups. I didn't have to do this step and you shouldn't either if you use painters tape!

That's all their is to it! I filled my vases with baby pink colored roses and white hydrangeas. You can use any freshly cut flowers you want. *Here is a helpful floral tip if you go with a more full flower like a hydrangea, your vases will look more full and save you money in the long run. A lot of people also grow hydrangeas so if your mom or aunt has a bush full of these beautiful flowers see if they'll let you have a few for your centerpieces usually family members are more then willing to lend a helping hand, but don't just go cutting your neighbors hydrangea tree without asking for permission πŸ˜…
As a finishing touch the day of he party I placed my vases on a round mirror plate which can be found here at Michaels arts and craft stores. I also placed white tea-lights on the mirror and added a simple pink and gold table number on each table which I also found at Michaels.

I really loved how my DIY centerpieces came out and I pulled off all of my projects in just 2weeks! You can read all about that here in my, "how to throw an event in 2 weeks or less" blog post.

Hey loves!

This week feels like it flying by, I can't seem to catch up on anything these days, but i haven't forgotten my promise to share more DIYs from my engagement party. The next DIY is my Bridesmaid boxes! I knew even before Daniel proposed that I wanted to do this for my bridesmaids. I always thought it was such a sweet gesture from the bride-to-be to her girls.

Before you go out buying tons of items for this box sit down and really think about your theme for this box. Are you having a destination wedding? if so this would be a great way to incorporate your destination. Do you have a theme in mind, like a winter wonderland? That would also be an awesome box idea. For my box I decided to go with a "treat, yourself" theme. I picked up some spa goodies and fun wedding items like a planner. to tie it all into my wedding I tried find items that were roses gold and purple. Another common theme for my wedding day is Romance & glamour so I found items like RL romance perfume & a rhinestone incrusted compact mirror to add into the boxes.

Besides the goodies, what craft materials do you need?
Box, Tissue paper, Ribbon, any decals/ornaments, I found really cute diamond pins, and a Pen (I used a chalk board pen).
I purchased all those items at Michael's Arts and Crafts.

Oh and don't feel like you need to load up the boxes. You can simply use tissue paper to stuff the bottom of the box to prop-up your goodies.

What was in my box?
Face mask - Marshall's
Compact mirror- Michaels
Initial picture holder (rose gold)- Michaels
Ralph Lauren romance perfume sample
Rose lemonade- fresh market. This can be found at various specialty stores and on Amazon.
Planner- Michael's
Bath bomb - Amazon or lush -> lush can be prices if you have a couple of girls o recommend buying from them, but if you have a ton of girls like I do  then Amazon has bath bombs in bulk. I decided to just get my flower girls pink flamingo bubble bars from lush and used the bulk bath bombs for my bridesmaids.

Each girl also received a few papers clipped together. One had their dress, another was a note from me, and the other few were bridal shower, bachelorette party and wedding inspiration. I figured this way they would knew what themes I was going for at each event.

I love to hear from you so let me know if you decided to make a box and what theme your doing!

How to throw an event in 2 weeks or less

Hi loves,

I know it's been a minute since I've posted, but life has gotten super hectic around here. First off I got engaged and if you want to read all about my proposal you can check that out here.  Secondly I got a new job, yes I have a 9-5 and this new gig is pretty awesome so no complaints there. Thirdly I moved and I'm planing my wedding which is less then an year away! Lots of exciting things going on and tons of DIY projects that I will be sharing with you all very soon, so keep following! This post is all about how I pulled off my engagment party in just 2 weeks and how you can pull of a memorable party in a tight timeline too!

If you read my proposal story you know that I've been waiting for Daniel to propose for 8 years so it wasn't exactly a surprise that I had an idea in my head already for our engagement party. I always pictured our party outside under a tent with lots of lights. I wanted a glamorous affaire, but on a budget and I did just that.

We were engaged for almost two months and Daniel surprised me with picking out the venue which was fine, but the next surprise was that I had two weeks to pull it off 😳. Okay it wasn't such a shock we spoke about it being on September 4th for awhile and we even told close family & friends, so once it was official I got to work.

Tip number 1: how to get the word out fast and appropriately. Pick up the phone and start calling or texting. Tell your guests that you're sorry for the short notice, but you'd love it if they can attend your event. *Remember it's short notice you're going to get no's, but those who matter most will make an effort to be there for you, so just keep that in mind if you get disappointed with the responses.

Tip number 2: if you have any DIY projects get them done first! I had quite a few in mind for my engagment party, thanks to Pinterest, so as soon as I could I did my research and ordered the craft materials. I also went to Michaels and picked up everything I needed to get started. Remember some projects take time and if you start early you can spread out the steps over a few days. This way you won't feel as rushed.

Tip number 3: if your ordering props or anything online make sure you place your order ASAP. Be sure to look at the delivery date. This way you can make sure that everything will arrive when you need it and not the week after your party.

Tip number 4: if you plan on getting your hair and makeup done for the party make sure you book that as soon as you get the date. Same goes for your dress. If your ordering it online I recommend shelling out the extra cash for it to come in soon rather then later. This way if you have to exchange it for a different size/ style or alterations you'll have time to do so.

Tip number 5: looking to have live music at your party? Well less then a month for any event isn't ideal so go with your best option. All you can do is go off of recommendations and companies avilablities, but if you've never heard of the D.J, before ask them for some sample music or make a play list for them to go off of. No band or do available or not I'm the budget? No worries just create a playlist or pick out a few playlists you like from Spotify.

Tip number 6: The cake. We had 160 guests and a cake that large in Ny/Nj will run you $800 if your looking for a tier cake. To save money I asked them for a small tier cake as to a show piece and we fed the rest of our guests with a sheet cake that they keep in the back. Your guests will never know the difference and you will save yourself over $500!

Tip number 7: Recruit friends and family to help you. If you've already told your bridesmaids then you can get them to help you with all the party details. You're going to need as much help as you can get to pull of your event so don't be afraid to ask for help. Even from your fiancΓ©, remember he wants the day to be just as nice as you do!

Tip number 8: If your party is at a venue see if you can set up the night before this way you can help
make your vision come to life. If that's out of the question, just make sure the restaurant crew or the people you recruited to help know exactly what you want. This way you can relax and get ready for your event in peace.

Tip number 9: Don't sweat the small stuff. If the flowers aren't he exact shade you wanted or the
napkins are off who cares no1 is going to notice those minor details but you so if you just let it go you'll have a much better time.
Tip number

10: Have fun! Yes I know it's hard to enjoy something when it's so last minute, but these are once in a lifetime experiences. Be sure to soak it all up and have fun while your running around like a crazy lady I know I did πŸ˜‰

Here are a few images from the party.
