Honeymoon Spray Tan

I know I've been a little MIA lately, but it's because I got married which I'll definitely have a post-up about that soon, but right now I want to tell you guys about my latest sunless tanning experience.

Okay so here's the deal when I got my tan I was off to my honeymoon in less than 24hrs and my glittering pale skin had got to go. I was asked by Brazil Bronze Tan SoHo to come in for a sun kissed glow. Now I consider myself somewhat of a sunless tanning connoisseur. Ever since I saw the damage tanning bed have done to my skin I don't believe in using them anymore. Thanks to my carefree teenage years, I have so much irreversible sun damage on my face. All of my none summer time glow and sometimes summer glow is because of sunless tanning.

I've heard of Brazil Bronze SoHo from so many different outlets, it's the place that stars go when in NYC to get their sunless glow on, so I was beyond excited to head over to get a quick glow before I jetted off for my honeymoon. Once I arrived the staff was very friendly and greeted me. I filled out a simple questionnaire that asked how tan I wanted to be and what type of tan I was looking for, express, traditional or organic, they even had a sculpting option which is always a fun add on. When I was called back for my tan. The women that applied my tan was very nice and it wasn't awkward at all, I've been doing this for a while so maybe I'm past the whole awkwardness of it. She tells you exactly how to position and reposition yourself so that every inch of you gets coated in their sunless tanning product. I don't like sitting in a spray tan for that long and I like to control my color so I opted for the express tan. The express tan means you can leave it on for 2-4 hrs depending on how deep of a color you're looking for. They did offer an organic tan which is something I would usually like to try. Maybe next time I'll give it a whirl and let you guys know how it turns out. I'm always game for an organic option.

Some of you may be wondering why I got a spray tan before heading off to a tropical island, but it's really the same concept as getting a base tan from a tanning bed prior to going on a vacation. The difference is that I don't have to sit in a tanning bed 2 weeks prior. I also don't have to worry about sitting out in the sun all day long on my vacation because I already have sun-kissed skin -BTW the sun will still tan your skin even with a spray tan so don't worry about that!-

My overall thoughts on the spray tan. The staff was great and I had a really nice glow. No one could tell it was a spray which is always the goal. It was perfect for my pre honeymoon glow. If there was any downfall it would be that a couple of spots were missed. Nothing that would be noticed with clothes on, but with a bathing suit it's a bit noticeable. Other than that I have no complaints. The tan was even and the perfect shade for every skin tone. The color they use has a beautiful olive undertone, so no orange hues here! If you’re in NYC or planning a trip there I would recommend hitting their studio to get your glow on ASAP!

A little makeup tip- I never get my face sprayed! even when self-tanning I leave my face bare. I do this for a couple of reasons, the first one being that I don't like how it clings to some areas on my face, it makes my dark spots more prominent and clings to certain areas differently. I also don't want it to clog my pores. -I'll get more into detail about my wedding prep skincare another time but trust me with any face regimen you do not want to take the chance of breaking out especially when you can just color match yourself easily.

Get your Fo-cation on!

Hello my loves, how's your winter treating you? I know I for one wish I could jet out to the Bahamas for a few days to escape this winter weather. The worst part is everyone I know is jetting off to Hawaii or Punta Cana even Bora Bora to holiday while I'm stuck in NY freezing my you know what off.

Are you in the same boat? If you answered YES! Then I have the perfect remedy for you and I call it a fo-cation.   Here are a few things you can use to pamper yourself to give you that, "I went on vacation glow".

💖Hydrate your under eyes. This is a quick and easy way to make you look and feel more awake! Apply any eye patch, my favorite are gel eye patches, and leave them on the the recommended time.
💖Pamper your paws! Fist exfoliate them, I really enjoy sea salt by lush cosmetics. Once you've done that use a hand mask to soften your winter skin. The one I'm loving late like is golden handshake by lush. Follow the directions on the packaging and watch the texture of your skin transform.
💖Next up add some color to your life! I know I'm NY winter is all about dark nails, but we're on a fo-cation remember? Give your nails a bright color like these pretty shimmering shade of blue from Essie.
💖Now get some rest! What does everyone do on vacation? They relax, so close the blinds or put on an eye mask and get some shut eye even if it's for 15 mins. As long as you wake up naturally I promise you'll feel more energized and ready to take on anything.
💖Once you wake up lather your dry winter skin with an illuminating lotion. My favorite is the Iuminizing body lotion by Jouer Cosmetics. It will brighten up your skin and give you that sun kissed glow!

Follow these steps to an instant fo-cation. I mean they always say fake it till you make it right? So go on a mini fo-cations once a month or once a week. Make people wonder why you're always wearing that vacation glow!

Best Birthday Weekend Ever!

Hello my loves! For those of you that don't know I celebrated my birthday on July 1st and it was definitely one for the books. My boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Washington D.C which happens to be my favorite place to go. I love the museums, the food and even though it's a 5 hr car ride I don't mind it because every time we go there we make so many new and exciting memories. The first night we got there he took me to my favorite restaurant called MXDC. We had drinks and a delicious dinner. I love the atmosphere inside the restaurant and their lobster guacamole is so yummy!
The next day he took me on a Segway tour and for those of you that have never gone on a Segway tour I highly recommend it. At first I thought I was going to fall off and bust my ass because I'm probably the most clumsy person out there. I swear my perception is just so off its scary at times, but I figured if the 75 year old lady in our group could do it then so could I! I think what made it that much more enjoyable was that our tour guy was awesome. He took us to some cool spots that weren't even on the list, but are defiantly hidden local gems. One spot we went to was under a dome and if you stand directly in the center and sing the echoes just sound so beautiful. Not like sang a song because no dome had enough magical powers to get my voice to sound suitable for others to hear. Our tour guide did sing though and it was so cool, so if you can sing or just want to play around I suggest you check it out! The tour was 3 hrs long and we got to see so much more then we would've on foot.

Of course we got to stop at certain landmarks and take photos. My favorite spot by far had to be the Lincoln memorial. It was just so beautiful looking out to the Washington monument. Not many people know this, but if your at the Lincoln memorial the best spot to be is to walk around the back. It's so busy and loud around front, but as soon as you walk to the back its like you enter a different world. It's quit and so peaceful looking out onto the Arlington skyline.
After our Segway tour we went to lunch which was definitely my boyfriends favorite restaurant of the entire trip. I'm not much of a meat eater, but he was in all his glory at this BBQ spot, "Hills Country BBQ".

After we stuffed outsells we decided to stop at a few museums to checkout some things that our tour guide had told us about, one being the butterfly exhibit in the museum of natural history. You walk in to a room and all the beautiful butterflies are flying around some will even land right on you if you're still enough. After that we went to a few other museums then we decided to start heading back home.
Since I have a big Italian family on July 3rd we had a family BBQ and it was such a nice day. Family, food and sunshine what more could you ask for on a holiday weekend?
The next day however changed my life forever and completed my birthday weekend better then I ever could've imagined. The day started out like any other Fourth of July. I went swimming, did some sunbathing and spending time with family. That night my boyfriend and I had plans to see the fireworks at a town at we both love. Now as a side note my boyfriend and I have been together for 8 years and out of those 8 year we have not gone to see fireworks once, so needless to say I was so excited because I live for good firework show and for him to want to go see them with me made the night even more special. Once we got into town we noticed that the sky looked like it was going to rain. I check my apple weather app and it said it wasn't going to rain until 11pm. The fireworks were to start at 9pm so I figured we were fine. Right before the first firework went up it started to down pour! The BF knew how much I wanted to watch the show so we found a little awning and watch the fireworks as the rain came down. After waiting out the storm for a while, we decided to get going and ran to our car, at this point the rain was really coming down. We were heading back to his house when we passed the church that we go to. Now this church is literately 5 mins away from where we went to see the fireworks, but it did not rain in this town, not even one drop, in  fact it was such a beautiful and peaceful night there that my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to pull over and go for a walk. So we parked the car next to the church and walked around. He took me over to a beautiful spot and got down on one knee and promised to love me for the rest of my life and asked me to be his wife! I swear it was the most serial moment of my entire life and absolutely perfect in every way. I couldn't be happier and it's all because I get to marry by best friend!
This birthday weekend is absolutely my favorite birthday yet I don't know how any other birthday would be able to top it. It was full of adventure and beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.
